    1. 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art is an initiative of the Asian Australian Artists Association, a non-profit organisation (4A) with the aim of promoting a greater understanding of diverse cultures through the arts.
    2. Aboriginal Heritage Museum The Aboriginal Heritage Office offers free entry and a tour of the museum with an Aboriginal Heritage Officer if requested.
    3. Anzac Memorial The memorial building is located at the southern end of Hyde Park on its central north-south axis. To the north is the pool of remembrance which is designed to reflect the image of the memorial itself. The building is raised on a square podium which houses offices for returned servicemens organisations. On the main podium is the main circular domed hall which is approached by wide ceremonial stairs from the north and south. Entrances to the lower level are from the east and west.

Bangarra Dance Company Bangarra Dance Company perfectly merges the old with the new - the ancient tradition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance with the modern reality of Indigenous life. The historic wharve building sits in the middle of this continuum, providing a link between the past and present. The pieces created are uniquely Australian, but speak to people all over the world, as sell out international tours demonstrate.     9. Bangarra Dance Theatre Bangarra Dance Theatre is one of the youngest and the oldest of Australia’s dance companies. Its living traditions go back at least 40 000 years with the indigenous people of Australia, yet it also reflects the lives and attitudes of indigenous people today.
    10. Birrung Gallery Birrung Gallery is a World Vision Australia initiative that provides unique Indigenous artwork to collectors and art lovers around the world. Representing over 400 Indigenous artists and 25 remote communities from across Australia.
    11. BJB - Big Jesus Burger An old Molasses factory makes for very good studio space. Ask this group of talented artists residing at Big Jesus Burger. Knitting, weaving, photography, film making and the design of cloth and jewellery gives you an idea of what you will uncover. To delve further into the mystery of underground craft look out for events which are sporadically hosted to flaunt their wares.
    12. Boomalli Aboriginal Art Gallery Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative is the only Aboriginal owned and operated contemporary art space in Sydney.
    13. Boomerang Throwing At La Perouse Laddie Timbery has a long association with the La Perouse area, being from the Bidjigal clan in the Eora Nation - the area now known as Sydney City and its southern area.
    14. Brenda May Gallery Brenda May established Access Gallery in Sydney in 1985 to support emerging Australian artists. The Gallery moved to the Danks Street complex when it opened in 2001 and currently represents a small group of well established artists including Robert Boynes, Jim Croke, Sybil Curtis, James Guppy, Melinda Le Guay, Angela Macdougall, Carol Murphy, Marc Standing, Lezlie Tilley, Peter Tilley and Hadyn Wilson.
    15. Brett Whiteley Studio Explore one of Sydney's best kept secrets: the Brett Whiteley Studio, where one of Australia's most celebrated artists of the 20th century lived and worked from 1988 to 1992.
    16. Cadmans Cottage Built in 1816, Cadmans Cottage is one of only a handful of Sydney buildings that remain from the first 30 years of the colony. Over the years this sandstone cottage has been a water transport headquarters, a sailors' home and a water police station, among other things. It used to be beside the water, but since the construction of Circular Quay the harbour has 'moved' 100 metres away.
    17. Carss Cottage Museum Carss Cottage Museum is set in a mid 19th century stone cottage, housing the Museum of Kogarah Historical Society. Changing displays depict the lifestyle of the 19th and early 20th century.
    18. Chalk Horse Gallery Chalk Horse Gallery is an artist-run space specialising in solo exhibitions by emerging Sydney artists along with international projects. A stockroom of painting, photography, video and works on paper is also available.
  • Historical Sites and Heritage Locations (19)
    1. Addington House You can view Addington, the earliest building in Ryde, from Victoria Road. Ryde City Council is currently undertaking a program of works to revive this colonial cottage.
    2. Ahimsa House Ahimsa and its surrounding bushland were the home of Marie Beuzeville Byles (1900-1979). Marie was known as a committed conservationist, the first practising female solicitor in New South Wales, mountaineer, explorer and avid bushwalker, feminist, author and original member of the Buddhist Society in New South Wales. Now owned by the National Trust, the bush land is open to the public, as is the Buddhist meditation sanctuary "Hut of Happy Omens", the house however is not open to the public.
    3. Aurora Expeditions From the heart of the Rocks you can plan your adventure holiday to the polar regions - Antarctica, the Arctic and Norway or Wild Scotland. If the cold climes make you tremble, consider Papa New Guinea or the Kimberley coast.     4. Bare Island In 1885 concerned British colonists thought an invasion from Russians was imminent. Bare Island Fort was built to protect "Sydney's back door"- Botany Bay - thus settling the minds of the early settlers.
    5. Belmore Railway Station Group The Belmore Railway Station was built between the boom of the 1880s and the standardisation of the 1890s, making it an interesting combination of the two styles. The Canterbury Council provides an interpretive sign, outlining the station's history.
    6. BMA House The breathtaking British Medical Association House is a perfect home for Wellbeing @ Macquarie, who provide a range of health services, including massage.     7. Bridge over Pearces Creek Pearces Creek Bridge is a McDonald timber truss road bridge. Bridges are not just functional; they can also be scenic and engineering attractions. Spare a few minutes to admire the Bridge over Tunks (Pearces Creek).
    8. BridgeClimb Sydney BridgeClimb Sydney welcomes visitors from around the world to enjoy the ultimate experience of Sydney on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
    9. Bronte House Bronte House is a private residence, which is regularly opened to the public. This romantic Gothic style cottage and garden merges beautifully into the Bronte Gully, forming a harmonious whole. The garden, retrieved from neglect, has been praised worldwide as a triumph and a masterpiece. The House, as described by its original owner, was, and still is, "lovely beyond conception."
    10. Broughton Pass Broughton Pass offers its best views after periods of heavy rain when the Cascade Waterfall, upstream from the bridge and weir, spills its waters into the Cataract River. The Broughton Pass Weir was built in the early 1880s and was part of the Upper Nepean Water Supply Scheme.
    11. Burwood Railway Station Group Stand for a moment, as the commuters rush past you, and take in the heritage of Burwood Railway Station. Note the alignment of the Parcel Office, indicating the route the tracks formerly took.
    12. Camden Park House Camden Park House built in 1835 for John and Elizabeth MaCarthur, occupied now by sixth generation descendent. Contains fine antiques both European and Australian. Historic wine cellar still containing original wines.
    13. Campbelltown Heritage Walk Campbelltown, located approximately 50k kilometres south-west of Sydney central business district, is a vibrant region filled with historic charms, scenic bushland surrounds and modern delights. The Campbelltown Heritage Walk is an ideal way to explore all Campbelltown has to offer, including the State Heritage Registered Post Office, CBC Bank, Dredges Cottage and Warbys Barn and Stables.
    14. Carisbrook Carisbrook, built in 1884, is a stunning Victorian era home. Set amongst beautiful, terraced gardens running to the waters edge, Carisbrook with enchant you. The house has been furnished with period pieces to recreate the 1880s. How used by the Lane Cove Historical Society, it is open to the public on a regular basis.
    15. Carthona This single-storey Federation cottage is remarkable as it remained in the ownership of the same family from the time it was erected c. 1910 until it was sold in 1986 in almost original condition. Randwick City Council has recognised how special this cottage is by attaching a plaque to the property.
    16. Cataract Dam Cataract is the oldest and possibly the most picturesque dam in Sydney's water supply system. Completed in 1907, it was the first of four dams constructed in the Upper Nepean Catchment area to ensure Sydney's water supply.
    17. Centennial Park Moore Park Queens Park Centennial Park was dedicated by Sir Henry Parkes as a public open space in 1888 and was the venue for the inauguration of Federation in 1901. This event is now marked by the Federation Pavilion.
    18. Centennial Park Reservoir WS001 The Reservoir Fields are located at the Northern end of Centennial Park adjacent to Oxford St. There are hockey, lacrosse and touch football fields available. The location affords great views across the South Sydney Region.
    19. Charing Cross Heritage Walk Charing Cross has managed to maintain its village atmosphere, which can be appreciated on the Charing Cross Heritage Walk.

    3. Bungendore Markets Bungendore Markets are open on the third Sunday of every month between 10am and 4pm. The markets have unique local produce, products, crafts, trash and treasure and general stalls.

    2. Avalon Beach Over the last decade or so Avalon has become the favoured “sea-change” destination for Sydney-siders looking to adopt the surfer lifestyle. As a result, the board-riding community here is large and enthusiastic but the skill level varies greatly so it’s a good idea to watch for a bit before paddling into the fray.
    3. Avon Dam Avon is the third and the largest of the four upper Nepean Dams. It was completed in 1927 to serve the Sydney area. In 1963, it was diverted to meet the increasing needs of the Illawarra region and today supplies all of Wollongong.
    4. Bronte Beach Bronte is just over a kilometre’s walk south of Bondi. The beach itself faces east and picks up swell from any direction, but bulky headlands to the north and south and clusters of underwater rocks make conditions challenging, especially for swimmers. The south headland shapes Bronte’s premium wave, but it breaks across rocks so it’s for confident board-riders only.
    5. Chinamans Beach This 250 metre stretch of sand is at the northern perimeter of Mosman, one of Sydney’s most genteel residential enclaves. Chinaman’s Beach is well inside Middle Harbour so there’s nary a wave to be seen, making it a great place for a relaxed swim, picnic and a splash about for the kids.
